Creating and delivering training for a new Cleric ambulance system
The Project
- This project focused on resolving the complex issue of the trust’s mixed use of fax and digital systems, which resulted in major errors in duplicate journeys and patients.
- A new digital system was implemented, but presented a unique challenge as it was still new, and none of the staff had received training on it.
- As part of the project team of six individuals hired to resolve this issue, I was tasked with writing and delivering training focused on the proper use of the new system.

THE SOLUTION
- Created visually appealing, full-color learning packs for the training program
- Co-delivered face-to-face training sessions to a large number of delegates (over 500)
- Identified and reported system issues to the business for improvements
- Conducted multiple feedback meetings to ensure the effectiveness of the training program.
THE RESULTS
The project outcome was very successful. Working closely with the staff and subject matter experts, we created comprehensive and visually appealing training packs, including quick guides, for all delegates to learn how to use the new digital system. The training was co-delivered throughout Yorkshire by teams of two – one facilitator and one trainer – providing on-hand support.
The trust saw remarkable results after implementing the new system. Duplicate patients and journeys were reduced by 87% within the first six months of usage. The implementation also led to a significant reduction in fax usage and the elimination of the paper-based filing system. Despite using the same resources, the trust was able to deliver 34% more patients.
The feedback received throughout the project stages, as measured by a Kirkpatrick matrix, was consistently positive, showcasing the success of our training and implementation efforts.
